I went to work in the morning. My job is to translate the problems, wishes, illnesses, and stories of refugees. When I left the second meeting, I met another interpreter outside.
— Get well soon, she said what happened to your leg
— Nothing. Why?
— You’re limping with your left leg. She said.
Suddenly I looked at my body, yes, the story I listened inside and translated created in my body instability.
I thought of Matt Haig’s book “Humans” he wrote the following words while describing Humans: “People exist in two worlds at the same time. The world of appearances and the world of reality. The connections between these two worlds take different forms.”
Our bodies contain thousands of experiences and stories told by others. We take these in without knowing how we internalize them. The state and shape of our body changes. When we take the stories in, we don’t know what seed we plant inside us.
Meet your body, to understand the colors of the world you create within yourself, to know the world you create within your body. Act by trying to understand it. Act not only by thinking about your needs and desires, but by feeling the taste, smell, touch, look and sound of the movement and action you do.
Do not be indifferent to what you call mine. Be aware of what is growing in and which shape it takes.
Namaste!
